New book coming out soon…

For those who have followed me from newspaper columnist and blogger to “guy who occasionally posts stuff”, stay tuned for something special. At the behest of friends, followers, and my therapist, I am finally publishing my first book.

Memoirs of a Good Jewish Boy

And it is a triumph!

For me as my own worst critic to make this claim is something, but I don’t expect you to take it from me. The pre-release reviews have been surprisingly encouraging. The New York Times said:

“Memoirs of a Good Jewish Boy? Never heard of it. Sounds like crap.”

Okay, perhaps that is not the best example, but in my defence, they didn’t read it. Among the few who were graced with an advanced copy, these were some of the comments:

“This is a fantastic and engaging mix of humor, insight, and personal reflection.”

“Mike, You’ve crafted something truly meaningful—something that will resonate, endure, and leave an impact. This good Jewish boy has put his story into the world. And it will not be erased.

This is a strong, reflective, and emotionally resonant tale. Benhaim’s humour builds toward self-realization culminating in a simple yet profound truth: that success is not just measured in achievements but in love, human connection, and impact.

Direct delivery of sarcasm, humour, and honesty in a voice so sharp, you can almost hear the author speaking directly to you. This should be a movie.

Why is this book relevant now?

In a time when identity, heritage, and personal storytelling are more valued than ever, Memoirs of a Good Jewish Boy offers a unique, humorous, and heartfelt perspective on the Jewish experience. With rising discussions about culture, intergenerational identity, and belonging, this book speaks to both those who share its background and those eager to learn from it.

The memoir’s blend of wit, self-reflection, and universal themes—family, tradition, rebellion, and self-discovery—makes it especially resonant now. As Jewish stories continue to evolve in literature, Memoirs of a Good Jewish Boy adds a fresh, modern voice that balances nostalgia with contemporary humor. In a world searching for authentic and meaningful storytelling, this book meets the moment with warmth, laughter, and a deeply personal yet widely relatable perspective.

Intrigued? You should be. Check in soon for more news on when and where to get your copy.
